How sharper than a dragon's tooth!
You WOUND me, Smiddy3!
what prompted this topic was a dream i had last night where i was engaged in a conversation i had with an old friend where i was trying to prove where the jw`s were wrong from their own bible.. and this is not the first time i have had such dreams.. often times i have had dreams about people i have known in the religion .. remember i have been away from the religion for more than 26 years now and in a totally different part of the country .. i now wonder if any of them ever dream about my wife and i ?
but that`s something i`ll never know.. do any of you have any such experiences ?.
maybe i`m spending too much time on this site lol.

I never dream,
but when I do,
I dream of Dos Equis.
Stay sleepy, my friend!
Sorry, I thought of that the instant I read the subject line and knew everyone here would enjoy it.
I really can seldom recall any dreams I might have, but when awake I often think about the JW kids I grew up with. Different thoughts for different kids, many who were damaged in various ways and few of whom left the JWs.
Usually I feel sad for them.
this is a follow-on to my earlier post 'the slain of jehovah'.
so we're sat in a cafe with my old friend of over 40 years, together with his wife.
actually, it's 50 years.
Bourneidentity's comments reminded me of some thoughts I had while preparing my presentation to the United Nations.
One characteristic many cults share is disrespect for the relationship of husbands and wives. The "Guru" will declare, "You cannot have a sexual relationship with the person you regarded as your spouse. The Guru is your connection to The Divine, and you must SUBMIT to The Divine if you wish to experience unity with The Divine."
I have a friend who many years ago was a member of a Gurdjieff group in California. The twist who was the leader of the group was a rich bi-sexual guy who took special pleasure in getting straight guys to yield to the leader and grant the leader's sexual wishes. It was all about POWER and what people will do if you tell them that their salvation is at stake.
bill ,a non witness is killed driving home after work, providing for his family.
he left behind his wife and 3 kids all under 8 years of age.
armageddon comes the very next month.
Nowhat?, in the scenario you've painted, let's say Bill dies in 2525. His wife will die sometime later - let's say 2530, and his kids sometime after that - lets say 2535.
The Watchtower taught a "LIFO" (last-in, first-out) resurrection back in the late 1960s. This would assure that Bill's kids would be resurrected first, then Bill's wife, then Bill.
What a loving imaginary scenario the Universal Sovereign has provided!

I think it is a superb irony that the New World Society never offered FREE LUNCHES during their assemblies
"Yes, chillun, at one time the Dubs did serve food at fat-ass-emblies, but it weren't never free; it was a source of revenue! Be good, chillun, or Jehovah gonna kick your ass!"
...seeing how they expect a 24/7/365 garden party to be provided to Armageddon survivors by Almighty Jehovah, ever-so-grateful for their worship.
i was doing some reminiscing and remember the days back in the late 80s and early 90s where i truly could say the meetings were so encouraging and that i felt the holy spirit present and operating on all of us.
today when i attend, there is nothing of the sort.
is it because jehovah has withheld it?
Tantalon said, "...I never felt anything except confused, lonely and frightened. Later on very angry."
Not long ago I suggested the the "Three Pillars of JWism" were
wazzup, cultists?.

Say, if any of you want to see a manly movie that the weak sisters in the congregation WILL NOT ENJOY, check out BRAWL IN CELL BLOCK 99 starring Vince Vaughn (yeah - the comedian).
Amazing!

Zing, the titles you have given me are SO NEW I can't find them on Amazon! Wow!
I'll keep looking...
Vidiot, thanks! I'm glad you enjoyed it.
what advice do you have for a teenager that is being raised as a witness but not baptized?
everyone is pressuring her to get baptized how to avoid that till they are 18 and they are 16?
how to stay sane in a household of religion you don´t believe in.
Jesus got baptized when he was 33 and he was P E R F E C T.
What scriptural support is there to support the baptism of minors? The same as the support for the baptism of infants: NONE.
They will say "but The End is so close..." well, it is so close for those babies too; should we baptize them?
so my husband and i had a long conversation last night about why i no longer believe.
this is our 10th conversation about all the same things which we have been talking about for the last four months.. he says “you have let yourself be deceived”.
i try my best to show him my sincerity in my motives.
I think it is a clever strategy to continuously remind him of his "theocratic obligations." Make sure he has a suit shirt and tie ready to put on, that his service bag is "ready to go" for field service. Put a few condoms in the bag so they can be accidentally discovered.
